I visited the forensic ward in Hospital Permai for the first time.
If a person who committed a crime is proven to have a mental disorder or s/he wasn't in the right state of mind when s/he committed the crime, s/he will be sent to the forensic ward in a psychiatric hospital for treatment and management until he is fit to stand for his trial again.
There are many patients in the ward, some were there for > 30 years, there seems to be no way out for them, its basically a 'prison' for those who are mentally ill.
I learnt about 'the ruler's pleasure':
In order to get themselves discharged, they have to send appeal letters to the ruler of the state, for example, the Sultan of Johor for those who originated from Johor.
